Tyre’s are classified in several ways, but one of the most important section of classification is their pattern and design in which they are constructed. The different types of lines or patterns that you may have observed on the tyres are not merely shown for any look purpose. Instead, it plays a vital role at times of braking and from a frictional point of view. By patterns, the tyres are further divided into three different sections. They are explained as follows:
1. Symmetric Pattern : These designs are very commonly seen on the tyres of many cars. As the name indicates, a symmetrical pattern is those treads which feature a similar continuous design on either side of the tyres, across the tread.
Such types of tyres having a symmetrical pattern in them are frequently non-directional in nature, which means that these tyres can be fit without any worries about its particular rotational direction.
2. Asymmetric Pattern : The tyres which are now in this pattern are opposite to the tyres which are in the symmetrical pattern. The design of the tread pattern on both sides of these tyres is not similar in nature. Due to its variable design on both the sides of the tyres gives a better and firm grip on flat or plain roads and also while making a turn.
In such tyres, their outside area has a wide design while the inner portion has independent tread blocks, similar to a symmetric layout.
3. Unidirectional Pattern : In these tyres, the tread patterns are made in such a way that they perform well when fitted in a particular direction. The path is marked with the support of an arrow on the sidewalls.
